7 Simple DIY cleaning solutions designed to save you money in 2022

Below we outline cleaning solutions you can make at home yourself, DIY cleaners are often easier to make than we realise, utilizing may items we have around the house. Each cleaner also requires Lemon Essential Oil, the purity of our Essential Oil means that little is needed and each 15ml bottle contains an estimated 250 drops)

  • Filtered or Distilled Water 
  • Cotton balls
  • White Vinegar ($1.40/ 2L)
  • Baking Soda ($1.80/ 500g)
  • Olive Oil ($6.50/ 500ml)
  • Lemon Essential Oil ($18/ 250 drops)

Cleaning Solutions

  1. All Purpose Surface Spray ($0.61)
    1. Start with a 500ml Spray Bottle
    2. 6 drops of Lemon Essential Oil
    3. 250ml Water
    4. 250ml White Vinegar

  2. Glass & Window Spray ($0.39)
    1. Start with a 60ml spray bottle
    2. Add 3 tablespoons of white vinegar
    3. Add 1 Tablespoon of Distilled Water
    4. Add 5 Drops of Lemon Essential Oil
    5. Spray on to window and wipe off with crumpled newspaper or squeegee for streak free finish

  3. Laundry Odour Eliminator ($0.14)
    1. Add 2 drops of Lemon (or Wild Orange) Essential Oil to the rinse cycle to help eliminate Odors
  4. Toilet Air Freshener ($0.14)
    1. Start with a 1 cotton ball (or a small Piece of paper towel folded in half)
    2. Add 2 drops of Lemon Essential Oil
    3. Leave on window ledge

  5. Leather Cleaner ($1.29)
    1. Start with a 60ml spray bottle
    2. Add 2 tablespoons of olive oil
    3. Add 2 tablespoons of white vinegar
    4. Add 10 drops of lemon Essential Oil
    5. Spray on leather items and wipe evenly with a cloth

  6. Goo Remover ($1.44)
    1. Start with a 60ml Spray bottle
    2. Add 20 drops of Lemon Essential Oil
    3. Fill with Distilled water (or Carrier Oil such as Fractionated Coconut Water if on Wood)
    4. Spray on surface and lightly scrub with soft rage to remove

  7. Residue/glue Remover: Great for removing adhesives and residues from stickers left on new bowls or vases
    1. Add 2 Tablespoons of baking soda to a bowl
    2. Add 5 drops of Lemon Essential Oil
    3. Top up with 1 cup of water
    4. Apply mixture to sticky surface and let soak for up to 5 minutes
    5. Use a damp towel to wipe of adhesive
